Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) Uganda have resumed direct flights to Kalongo Airfield.
Covid brought the airstrip to a standstill in 2020 and it began to fall into disrepair. It was subsequently closed.
The MAF financed and coordinated the refurbishment work on the airstrip which culminated in its re-opening in 2024. Its inaugural flight landed on 11th September 2024.
These flights support the work the Dr. Ambrosoli Memorial Hospital to support isolated people in this part of Uganda. The Ambrosoli Catholic community runs a strategic hospital, and most of the MAF passengers to that area are missionaries, doctors, and specialists. The airfield also serves developmental organisations and churches that operate in that region.
Kalongo Shuttle Service
The MAF shuttle service to Kalongo runs every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while charters are made on demand.
Wider Northern Uganda Shuttle Service
On working days (Monday, Wednesday and Friday) MAF fly to Northern Uganda landing at various locations, such as Moyo, Arua, Adjumani, Gulu, Pader, Kaabong, Kotido, Moroto, Matany, Soroti and others as required.

About the Mission Aviation Fellowship
Mission Aviation Fellowship is the world’s largest humanitarian air operator. For over 75 years they have been flying light aircraft over jungles, mountains, swamps and deserts. They enable more than 2,000 aid, development, and mission organisations to bring medical care, emergency relief, and long-term development.
Their pilots and personnel deliver relief workers, doctors, pastors, schoolbooks, food, medicines – everything that can only be safely and speedily delivered by air. Their supporters make all this possible.
MAF has operated in Uganda since 1986.
